By Behind the Scenes No Comments

Oct 5th, 2020 After ten years of working like a Rock Star it is time for Claudia to go and make her own little bundle of joy. This exquisite little wooden bench with lamb’s wool is the perfect seating for a newborn. This lovely gift was hand delivered by South Hill Home and all wrapped in gold. It is the relationship’s that we form that make our daily lives just so much better. A true little Sheep!

Dual Lighting Install

By Behind the Scenes No Comments

Sep 7th, 2020 It is the Fall and we are completing a project time to light it up. This photo reminds me of Roberto Polidori, the photographer, the orange ladder in contrast to the lacquered white cabinets with mahogany frames inserted with mirror. The modern lights going in in the ceiling recessed in the cabinetry and the decorative lights have a shade of bluey grey awaiting the full bulbs. The finish of a site must be done in a clean state and with care. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, finally.

Landed and Ready

By Behind the Scenes No Comments

Aug 3rd, 2020 Every day is a different one where we are not quite sure what is happening next. The pilot, the client and I as we land to explore a country property that we are developing. A ride like this one allows us to get to our destination and back all in a morning to get to work on the design. Computer, choppers and ideas and we are good to go. This will be an interesting process as the development is the three dimensional as well as the plan articulation on 100 acres.

Stone Slab Magic

By Behind the Scenes No Comments

Jul 1st, 2020 Working with amazing trades is a true treat and a long relationship develops which is the test of beautiful work and striving for quality every day. At THA we are very lucky with excellent trades that execute our work; we developed this transitional niche detail that we have highlighted in a contrasting material. A thicker frame with thinner shelves and a deeper bottom rail incorporating a reveal. This is cut into the slab and appears seamless. Further to this design is a border detail that frames each wall. Not just a simple place to place shampoo but…

May 1st, 2020 The days are getting longer and the sky is healing under a cleaner day with little or no pollution. This burst of colour reminds us of the beauty of nature. The days no longer have names but they are one to grab and seize the day. This inspiration keeps me going and sets me to a sleep of dreaming and wonder for the next day. I continue to be creative and motivate people around me to breathe and continue.

Condo Starter: Palette of a Brunello Cuinelli Coat

By Behind the Scenes No Comments

Apr 01st, 2020 This is April Fool’s Day but truly jokes are few and far between; I did have a good laugh this morning from my fiancé and sort of laughed as we are separated right now by an international border. Just a note that I pre-wrote my March blogs as I was supposed to be in Europe for the month skiing. We came home early due to Covid-19 and needed to bring children home ending up in two countries. I have been self-isolating in Toronto with my children working from home. My March blogs are a world away, this…

A beautiful blue sky in contrast to the metal I beams and orange uniform of the construction workers, art and construction go hand in hand. I like that the machinery is orange it adds to base the photo.

Fashion KADE for THA with Dry Waller

By Behind the Scenes No Comments

Feb 3rd, 2020 Very brave of me to take the onesy Superhero outfit to site amongst the dry wallers. Such a juxtaposition of everything. We were doing a photoshoot to capture a few extra pieces after our look book was complete. This site is a beauty of a deco re-create and the trade men are loving working in the 12 foot ceiling space look at the smile! Or is that because I am there? Usually they are hiding…

A Brick Wall, A Fireplace and A Dream

By Behind the Scenes No Comments

Jan 6th, 2020 The rebuilding of a fireplace in an old wall with modern horizontal firebrick is the beginning of the end in a good way. This fireplace will be a masonry chimney with a gas log insert giving the old and the new the easy perfection of use. This restoration of the 1903 fraternity house to a three unit condo will reveal itself in 2020. We are the developers, the architects and the interior designers. A true vertically integrated project. I must say a fabulous photo thank you Costas Picadas.
