Hand Drawn Ink

By Travel No Comments

May 14th, 2020 Student days in Rome studying the geometry of the temples depicting them on mylar with ink pens. Truly a lost art and passion. The mistakes of the pens are reminders of imperfection that are beautiful. Studying a plan is similar to walk in someone else’s mind feeling the axis and shapes you can explore the plan creating your own. This I called the Chapel of Hope for the celebration of the rites of passage in 1986, a prime time for post modernism. A band of rare red stone holding the washcourse in my pencil crayons.

Sunset Lakeside

By Behind the Scenes No Comments

May 1st, 2020 The days are getting longer and the sky is healing under a cleaner day with little or no pollution. This burst of colour reminds us of the beauty of nature. The days no longer have names but they are one to grab and seize the day. This inspiration keeps me going and sets me to a sleep of dreaming and wonder for the next day. I continue to be creative and motivate people around me to breathe and continue.

Le 1947 Cheval Blanc Reflections

By Dee Dee's Rules No Comments

Apr 21st, 2020 Such a great concept reflecting the ceiling onto the floor and capture the same shape table with an arched shape bell. A circle in a circle in a circle and so on. The re-enforcement of space and containment playing with a curved service is captivating. A stunning dining room to enjoy delights of Chef Yannick Alleno. There are hints of red amongst the white that simply deliver.

Life Contrived

By Travel No Comments

Apr 14th, 2020 Courchevel, France seems like a lifetime ago and I have so many beautiful photos both exterior and interiors. Unbelievable restaurants, hotels and mountains all in the alps while this raging virus spread; I chose this picture as it symbolizes a tree of hope growing under its constraints in a very controlled environs. Ironic, contrived, yet, clever. Very little left to chance and today we all want control with freedom at the same time, something inside me wants to take the tree outside but it would perish: strange.

Apr 01st, 2020 This is April Fool’s Day but truly jokes are few and far between; I did have a good laugh this morning from my fiancé and sort of laughed as we are separated right now by an international border. Just a note that I pre-wrote my March blogs as I was supposed to be in Europe for the month skiing. We came home early due to Covid-19 and needed to bring children home ending up in two countries. I have been self-isolating in Toronto with my children working from home. My March blogs are a world away, this…

Size Matters in Yachts

By Dee Dee's Rules No Comments

MAR 23rd, 2020 Check with the Marina if your yacht fits in and if not anchor out in the ocean with the big boys. A two toned yacht with a cream bottom and white top is elegant, all 256 feet of it with 24 crew members. The rule is to check if it is trains, planes or automobiles that your transportation fits the house where it rests.

Nassau home under Construction

By Travel No Comments

MAR. 16th, 2020 This modern house really could be anywhere as it seems location free. The horizontal lines and the materiality is not organic and has travelled across water to its resting space. Is this right or wrong? Or good or bad? Good design is good design and I believe this is successful as it sits along Albany Golf course. My question does anyone know there is a beach around the corner?

By Press No Comments

MAR. 9th, 2020 The inaugural year of the Toronto Art, Architectural & Design Film Festival I spoke with Marianne McKenna and Kate Zeidler about this incredible film, City Dreamers depicting four trailblazing women in design. All these women are in their 90’s practising and living their world of design. Truly inspirational, hats off to Nicole Smith and Dr. Errol Billinkoff for creating this festival and to its aspiring success in the years to come.
